The Syngenta biopharma brochure
Syngenta biopharma is a recently formed business unit of Syngenta, a world leading agribusiness, that is committed to developing a pipeline of biological therapeutics produced in plants or through microbial fermentation. Syngenta biopharma believe that strong synergistic partnerships with biotech or academia are key to their success. Specifically it is interested in attracting partners with early stage biological products for in-licensing or co-development. Northbank was commissioned to establish and promote Syngenta biopharma by producing an eye-catching marketing brochure for use at BIO and throughout the year.

Objectives
To communicate the capabilities and strengths of Syngenta biopharma to potential partners
To outline what Syngenta biopharma is seeking in potential partners
To write the brochure and visually communicate messages in a clear and memorable way
To create a new theme, independent of Syngenta and unique for Syngenta biopharma
Design to allow inclusion of supporting documents
Work as an introductory piece prior to a meeting or a leave piece
Design it for print or electronic presentation

Methods
Various themes were developed to show possible ways of communicating what Syngenta biopharma offers and how it fits into a partner’s offering
The chosen design used symbolic icons to represent the drug discovery and development pipeline, and to clearly show where Syngenta biopharma and partners can work in synergy
To make the brochure stand out and be memorable metallic ink was used to reflect and build the quality and values of the Syngenta biopharma image. Photography was used to reflect supporting messages

Results
The brochure drives the audience to visit the Syngenta biopharma website, the content of which was written by Northbank to work synergistically with the brochure
The brochure made its debut at Syngenta biopharma’s major partnering conference, BIO2004
June 2004
